Green Six Sigma 'the key to sustainability'

Thomas R Cutler, a leading expert on the subject, said the demand for sustainable operations is being driven by new laws and consumer demand.
He said: "Green Six Sigma is addressing the real challenges for leadership and senior executives to drive business process excellence while reducing environmental impact."
The role of Six Sigma is now about boosting profits and making firms more sustainable, Mr Cutler added.
Given the fact that the methodology is tried and tested, businesses have no excuse not to use it, he stated.
Recently, a study by the Aberdeen Group revealed that at leading businesses, Six Sigma can cut process costs by up to 18 per cent.
It also found that cycle times were reduced by 16 per cent through the application of the methodology.
