Six Sigma 'needs more than just training'

News brought to you by IQPC.

Six Sigma process improvements are not just down to training staff in the methodology, one expert has claimed.

In an interview with Consultant News, Scott McAllister, European managing director at consultancy firm BMGI, explained that firms which concentrate on implementing measures which have been successful for other firms risk taking an ineffective "cookbook" approach.

He said: "You can turn one per cent of your organisation into Six Sigma Black Belts, but what's the business outcome?"

Firms should look to tailor process improvements to meet the needs of their firm, Mr McAllister added.

The recession will make the need to cut waste and excess even greater, he warned.

Yesterday, it was revealed that KKR Capstone has appointed Arthur Brohinsky to head up its Lean Six Sigma projects.

According to the private equity firm, the move was taken to ensure it can make the best possible improvements in companies it invests in.ADNFCR-1942-ID-19124425-ADNFCR
