Firms 'not taking advantages of digital business process improvements'

News brought to you by IQPC.

Two-fifths of businesses do not scan their incoming documents, meaning they could be missing out on the business process improvements relating to digitisation, a new study has found.

Research by AIIM reveals that despite the fact that converting paper documents into computer files has demonstrated a clear return on investment when it comes to set up costs, many businesses are failing to embrace the technology.

It also revealed that 54 per cent of businesses manually "re-key" information they receive from customers.

Doug Miles, AIIM director of market intelligence said: "It shows that many companies have yet to tap into the ability of modern data capture techniques to convert documents for indexing and editing, or feed them directly into line-of-business processes such as order processing or accounts payable."

Recently, a study by Garner found that firms which digitise systems can reduce the amount of paper they use and therefore their impact on the environment.ADNFCR-1942-ID-18995588-ADNFCR
